Vision
The vision of the Mifflin-Juniata County Human Services Department is to be responsive and meet the needs of the community. Human Services should empower individuals and families to be self-sufficient. |
Definition of Human Services
- Services that meet the basic needs of an individual, i.e. food, shelter, utility, health and safety.
- Rehabilitative services that assist individuals in obtaining their highest level of self sufficiency. These services could include mental health, mental retardation drug & alcohol counseling or financial education. We want to enable individuals to live a healthy lifestyle that is beneficial to their well being.
- Family services – Children and Youth, after school programs, summer day camps, and mentoring programs.
- Aging services – Call A Ride Service, homemaker and food services that allow individuals to remain in their home. Partnering with Area Agency on Aging for any living transition for clients and their families.
- Services that enable an individual to realize their fullest potential as both an individual and a productive member of their community.
- Employment related services – childcare, supported work program. Educational oportunities to advance their level of learning or skills for workforce. We want everyone to maximize their financial opportunity when job searching.
